Sometimes Life Works in Mysterious Ways

This morning I checked my e-mail only to find one of the weirdest e-mails I’ve ever gotten in my life: my hair stylist forwarded me an e-mail from some guy named Pete, who was telling him that I should play with some group called “Coloma Strings.” I Googled this guy’s name and discovered he is the french horn instructor for Sac State. Again — WTF? French horn instructor? Why does he know who I am? Or care? Also, how did my hair stylist get involved in finding me a group to play with? I’M SO CONFUSED!

So, I e-mailed my teacher since she’s looking into groups for me and also since she is a student at Sac State (maybe she knows this Pete guy?) I figured to it would be best to know what the heck is going on before contacting this group. Or at least wait until I don’t care as much that I’m so damn confused.

As a side note, I’m coming down with something. 😦 This is the first time I’ve been sick since swine flu a year and a half ago. No complaints really — I used to be sick almost all the time with little more than two or three day respites before getting sick again. Still, not fun, but since I will likely not be playing my best, it’s rather good timing since I will be cello-less as of 3PM today.

  1. Things like this used to happen to me all the time before my 3 year break from Davis. It used to be one of the things I hated about Davis, especially growing up — somehow my mother would find out about every bad thing I did before it actually happened — but after moving back I missed it. It’s the first Davis-y thing that’s happened since moving back and I feel quite loved by it actually. There’s something about people getting involved in your business when there’s nothing in it for them that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Or at least I feel that way.

I did think it was good to let my teacher know about it, however, since she was going to talk to her teacher at Sac State and the guy who recommended the string group is also an instructor there. It would just be weird if it didn’t connect on that end, when there are apparently multiple people trying to help me out here.

P.S. This same thing would have happened sans internet. In fact, before I had an internet connection it was happening. Far, far, far too often.
